Tenjiku shogi

Tenjiku shogi (天竺将棋 tenjiku shōgi, "Indian chess") is a large-board variant of shogi (Japanese chess). The game dates back to the 15th or 16th century and was based on the earlier chu shogi.

Pieces actions and properties

This description extends the rules of chu Shogi:

Vice General: moves like a Bishop, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces (except great general).The Vice General can also make upto 3 King steps.

Fire Demon: burns all enemies standing on any of the eight squares next to the one it stands on (as opposed to: moves through). It does this both actively, after it moved, and passively, when an opponent's move lands next to it.

Water Buffalo: promotes to Fire Demon.

Heavenly Tetrach: The Tetrarchs is a sliding piece that skips the first square in any direction, totally ignoring (and not affecting) what is on it. It can end maximally 3 squares away from its starting square sideway, but can slide arbtrarily far in all other 6 directions. Alternatively the Tetrarchs can annihilate any opponent next to it, without moving.

Chariot Soldier: promotes to Heavenly Tetrach.

Lion Hawk: Can : Jump directly to any square in the 5x5 area surrounding it or annihilate any opponent standing next to it and moving on to an empty square next to that or Stay in place without capturing anything.

Vertical Soldier: promotes to Chariot Soldier.

Horizontal Soldier: promotes to Water Buffalo.

Dog: promotes to multi general.

Iron General : promotes to Vertical Soldier.

Free Eagle: moves as a Queen with the diagonal move of a lion

Jump directly to any square in the second square in any direction

The diagonal move allows to :

Great general: moves as a Queen, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces except over king/prince.

Rook General: moves as a Rook, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces except over higher-ranked jumpers or king/prince.

Bishop General: moves as a Bishop, when capturing, he can jump over an arbitrarily large number of other pieces except over higher-ranked jumpers or king/prince.
